Nissan has revealed the new-generation Navara in Australia, scheduled to go on sale at the end of the first quarter of 2026. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the all-new Navara is essentially a rebadged Mitsubishi Triton.

The Navara features regionally tuned suspension developed by Premcar to meet varied driving conditions. Nissan says this calibration supports stable handling, whether unladen or fully loaded, and maintains the model’s 3,500 kg braked towing capacity across all variants.

While it is a rebadge, the new Navara adopts a sort of Nissan design language with a V-strut grille, while a three-slot upper grille is similar to the now-defunct Nissan Titan. C-shaped headlamps integrate with the grille, reinforcing its modern design language.

Designers incorporated smaller V-strut motifs into the grille mesh and drew inspiration from modified regional pickups to create a strong, practical presence. The PRO-4X grade adds black exterior elements, Lava Red accents, a black sports bar, 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, and a standard towbar.

Inside, the cabin is indeed full Mitsubishi, including the steering wheel; however, it is more spacious and refined, with the PRO-4X featuring Lava Red highlights, leather-accented seats, embossed logos, and contrasting stitching.

All models come with a 9-inch infotainment system featuring DAB digital radio, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. ST-X and PRO-4X variants add wireless smartphone charging. A 7-inch TFT display presents key driving information.

Australia and Oceania customers also gain access to MyNISSAN Navara Connected Car Services, which offer remote HVAC control, emergency calling, stolen-vehicle tracking, and remote locking.

The new Navara is equipped with eight airbags and a full suite of driver assistance technologies for a safer drive.

As expected, a Mitsubishi 4N15 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine delivers 150 kW and 470 Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Yes, it’s the same powertrain found on the Triton.

The Navara offers two advanced 4WD systems. On applicable grades, an Easy 4WD setup automatically switches between 2WD and 4WD depending on conditions, and includes an electronic rear differential lock.

ST-X and PRO-4X grades feature a new Super 4WD system with full-time high-range mode, an open centre differential, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and seven terrain modes: Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock.

The new Navara will be offered in multiple trim levels, ranging from entry-level work-focused variants to the premium ST-X and off-road-ready PRO-4X. A new Navara Warrior, developed by Premcar, is also in progress, previewed by the PRO-4X Warrior Concept.
The question now is, will the Philippines get this soon, or does Nissan have something else in store? A new Nissan Frontier to complement the Navara, perhaps? Only time will tell.
