It seems that the current Toyota Vios generation will still live on, as the brand just revealed an updated and facelifted model in Vietnam.
Toyota Vios Refresh
In a rather strange move the Japanese brand currently now has a mix of the current model, and an all-new model on sale in various ASEAN countries. In fact, this facelifted version was spied testing just a few months ago.
It more or less still resembles the current Vios but now sports a sportier and bolder-looking front fascia, which has the “hammerhead” look that has a wider grille and LED lights across all variants. The rest of the exterior remains to be unchanged apart from newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels.
Engine options also remain the same, the brand has chosen to retain the 1.5-liter engine that puts out 107 PS and 140 Nm of torque, and transmission options are either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. The inside though now gets a new infotainment system that has Apple Carplay and Android Auto. This display system also showcases the new reverse camera system that’s standard on all variants.
The top-of-the-line variant now gets an updated Toyota Safety Sense suite which has pre-collision warning with emergency braking and lane departure warning. Lower event variants meanwhile, get either 3 or 6 airbags and standard ABS with EBD, and stability control.
There is no final word yet from TMP if the refreshed or all-new Vios will reach our shores this year, but we can assume that the all-new model may have to wait until next year given the current crash test scandal surrounding the Daihatsu-sourced model.
