Land Rover unveils Defender OCTA: Tougher and more powerful

In a remarkable leap forward for the iconic British adventure brand, the new Land Rover Defender OCTA has been unveiled, setting a new standard for toughness, capability, and luxury in the 4×4 family. This new model, an evolution of the Defender 110, promises unparalleled performance both on and off-road.

At the heart of the Defender OCTA is a 4.4-litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine, the most potent powerplant ever installed in a Defender. With 644 hp and up to 750Nm of torque, it rockets from zero to 100 km/h in just under four seconds. This power is harnessed through an innovative 6D Dynamics suspension system, which enhances both on-road agility and off-road prowess.

The Defender OCTA’s exterior exudes strength and character. It features a raised ride height, widened stance, and extended wheel arches for an imposing presence. Redesigned bumpers and robust underbody protection ensure it can tackle the roughest terrains, while its wading capability extends to an impressive one meter of water.

Defender OCTA Edition One, available in the first year of production, epitomizes luxury with exclusive Faroe Green paint, a Khaki and Ebony Ultrafabricsâ„¢ PU interior, and 20-inch forged alloy wheels with advanced all-terrain tires. This special edition underscores the blend of rugged durability and refined elegance that defines the new model.

The Defender OCTA also features a suite of advanced technologies. Its hydraulically interlinked 6D Dynamics suspension virtually eliminates body roll on-road and maximizes wheel articulation off-road. Enhanced braking with 400mm front discs and Brembo calipers, along with the fastest steering ratio of any Defender, ensures precise handling and control.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director of Defender, proudly states, “With New Defender OCTA, we have unlocked the full potential of Defender. It is a testament to our engineering excellence, combining powerful performance, groundbreaking technology, and exquisite finishes.”

For those wondering, the Defender OCTA’s name is inspired by the octahedral shape of diamonds, symbolizing strength, resilience, and rarity. This theme is reflected in its design, with a signature encircled diamond graphic adorning each vehicle.

The Defender OCTA will officially debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. Only time will tell whether it will come to the Philippines.
