BYD Cars Philippines has launched the facelifted BYD Seal 5 DM-i, expanding its electrified sedan lineup following the original Seal 5’s 2024 debut. The updated model is offered in Essential and Dynamic variants and uses BYD’s fifth-generation Super DM-i plug-in hybrid technology.

“With the launch of the new Seal 5 DM-i, BYD Cars Philippines continues to set the benchmark for electric mobility in the country,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “Whether you are a first-time car buyer seeking reliability, a professional looking for a daily driver, or a fleet operator focused on optimizing operational costs, the new Seal 5 DM-i offers a practical yet advanced solution that ensures every journey is smarter, more comfortable, and more cost-effective.”

In an efficiency run conducted with the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the Seal 5 DM-i recorded a combined driving range of up to 2,181 km. BYD noted that this figure comes from an official run certified by AAP but is not guaranteed, as actual results depend on driving habits, traffic, road and weather conditions, vehicle load, battery condition, and other factors.

The Essential variant uses a 7.42 kWh Blade Battery for up to 55 km of electric range, while the Dynamic variant uses an 18.3 kWh Blade Battery for up to 115 km of electric range. BYD said this allows most daily trips to be completed on electric power before the hybrid system engages.

Interior features include an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control with rear air vents, multiple USB charging ports, and a 522-liter trunk that expands to 1,295 liters with the rear seats folded.

Safety features include cruise control, a tire pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors, vehicle dynamic control, hill hold control, automatic vehicle hold, and multiple airbags.

Both variants are being offered at introductory prices from July 28 to August 31, 2026. Starting September 1, official SRPs will be PHP 948,000 for the Essential and PHP 1,048,000 for the Dynamic. All units come with an 8-year Drive Unit warranty, a 6-year or 160,000-km bumper-to-bumper warranty, and an 8-year or 160,000-km warranty on the Blade Battery. The Seal 5 DM-i is available in Deep Sea Blue, Cosmos Black, Atlantis Grey, and Harbour Grey.

BPI is offering financing packages for individual buyers and businesses looking to add the model to their fleets.
The launch also marks the start of the BYD Tech Tour, running at the Trinoma Activity Center until August 2.
