BYD Cars Philippines sold 4,682 units in August 2026, pushing its January-to-August total to 28,399 units. That eight-month tally marks a 99% year-on-year increase and has already surpassed the brand’s full-year 2025 total of 26,122 units, a mark reached four months ahead of schedule.
August’s figures follow a record-setting April 2026, when BYD Cars Philippines logged its highest-ever monthly sales at 5,730 units, up 258% year-on-year from April 2025. Taken together, the two months indicate a growing demand for the brand’s New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in the local market.
Plug-in hybrid models accounted for much of the growth. BYD sold 22,555 DM-i vehicles from January to August 2026, a 95% year-on-year rise from 11,542 units in the same period last year. The Sealion 6 DM-i led the segment and ranked as the brand’s best-selling model overall, with 7,759 units sold, or 27% of total company sales. The eMAX 9 DM-i followed with 2,512 units sold year-to-date as of August.

Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales also grew, reaching 5,844 units from January to August 2026, up 115% from 2,720 units in the same period in 2025. The eMAX 7 topped the BEV lineup with 1,975 units sold, representing 34% of the brand’s total BEV sales for the period.
“The market’s response to our best-selling models, like the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, the eMAX 9 DM-i and the eMAX 7 BEV, and our achievement of crossing our full-year 2025 sales is proof that electric vehicles have entered the mainstream in the Philippines,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “Filipino consumers are choosing BYD because our vehicles deliver what matters most: innovation, practicality, reliability, and lower ownership costs without compromise. As electric mobility continues to accelerate across the country, BYD is proud to lead the shift, and we remain committed to bring more world-class electric and plug-in hybrid technologies to Filipino drivers.”
Globally, BYD recorded 440,293 NEV units in sales in August 2026.
BYD’s dealership network in the Philippines has grown alongside sales, now standing at 81 dealerships nationwide, extending sales and after-sales support to more cities and provinces.
