The project follows the philosophy championed by Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Akio Toyoda, also known as Master Driver Morizo, who has pushed for the continuation of skills shared by the Toyota 2000GT, the original Lexus LFA, and today’s motorsport programs.

Developed alongside Toyota Gazoo Racing’s GR GT and GR GT3 projects, the LFA Concept embodies the idea of “Toyota’s Shikinen Sengu,” which refers to passing down essential craftsmanship while improving it for the next era. Lexus aims to deliver a BEV sports car that meets modern expectations in both performance and design.

The LFA Concept incorporates the same development principles behind the GR GT and GR GT3, focusing on a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and advanced aerodynamics. It uses a light, high-rigidity all-aluminum body structure and an ideal driving position to strengthen the connection between car and driver.

Lexus says the model represents what a BEV sports car should be in the electrification era—combining packaging optimized for an electric drivetrain with styling intended to remain relevant for years to come. The “LFA” name is positioned not as a successor to the original V10 model, but as a symbol of technology and craftsmanship meant to be carried into the next generation.

Lexus describes the LFA Concept as centered on “Discover Immersion,” the idea of fully immersing the driver in the driving experience. The car’s exterior was shaped to balance aerodynamic performance with clean, sculptural surfaces, while the cockpit was engineered around the ideal driving position used in the GR GT and GR GT3.

Inside, the layout is simple and driver-focused. Controls are designed for intuitive operation, including a steering wheel that enables precise control without the need to regrip. The minimalist interior blends mechanical elements with a straightforward layout to enhance the sense of unity between driver and vehicle.

The LFA Concept inherits design cues from the original Lexus LFA but adapts them to a BEV platform. Its low, flowing silhouette and classic coupe proportions are enabled by the underlying aluminum frame shared with the GR GT. Lexus says the car aims for a balanced, timeless form that appeals across markets and eras.

The exterior and interior were previously shown as the “Lexus Sport Concept” at Monterey Car Week 2025 and the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The model is now presented with updated details and its official name.

Lexus plans to continue developing the LFA Concept as part of its broader push toward advanced electrification and the preservation of key engineering skills within its high-performance programs.
