Matchbox is releasing special edition models to celebrate 70th anniversary

Part of growing up a fan of cars and anything with wheels is the ownership of some sort of die-cast model. While there are numerous brands, one has stood the test of time and is celebrating a rather big milestone, Matchbox is turning 70.

To celebrate the legendary toy maker’s 70th anniversary, parent company Mattel is paying tribute by releasing a special edition range of models. There will be seven different models, each model commemorating one decade.

Some of the iconic special edition models that will be featured are the Jaguar D-Type, Porsche 911 Turbo, and the Routemaster Bus. Some of the new products will be cast from recycled zinc, in a step toward Matchbox’s eco-friendly vision of its products being 100% recycled, recyclable, or made from bio-based materials by 2030.
