RapidPass offers faster and safer checkpoints for front-liners

After days of field testing, RapidPass.PH, a website that helps in faster movement and access for front-liners and priority vehicles during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), is now ready for full deployment.

RapidPass.PH is developed by Developers Connect (DevCon Philippines) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). It aims to speed up vehicle inspections for front-liners by providing them with QR codes that will be scanned when they pass through checkpoints.

Only the following are allowed to apply for a RapidPass through its website https://rapidpass.ph/.

• Medical Workers
• Basic services providers
• BPO employees
• Logistics service providers
• Police/AFP

If the application is approved, a QR code and control number will be provided to each authorized person or vehicle that can be printed and posted on vehicles, or shown to authorities via smartphone for scanning at checkpoints.

According to the RapidPass.PH website, applying for a Rapid Pass does not guarantee approval, and that having a pass does not guarantee immediate passage to a checkpoint.

A valid ID is still required to be shown along with the Rapid Pass to go through checkpoints. If traveling with a companion, that person should also be registered.

In a report by Inquirer.net, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said that the RapidPass will be available to everyone but it will not be required, Nograles noted, adding that front-liners may still present their IDs and other required documents in the checkpoints.
