The MG Cyberster makes a shocking appearance – Available in the Philippines by Q1 of 2024

SAIC Philippines has unveiled a surprising addition to its MG vehicle lineup with a preview of the MG Cyberster, marking the company’s entry into the electric roadster segment. Unlike many concept cars, what’s on display is not a mere prototype but the actual production version of the MG Cyberster. This move by MG Philippines adds an exciting chapter to the brand’s rich history of roadsters dating back to the 1920s, now embracing the future with an all-electric open-top sports car.

Breaking the tradition of internal combustion engine roadsters, the Cyberster represents MG’s leap into the realm of electric sports cars. This marks a significant departure from their last roadster, the TF, and opens a new chapter for the brand. MG Philippines has not just showcased the Cyberster for display; they have officially announced its availability to customers by the first quarter of 2024. While the exact launch date is yet to be pinpointed, the prospect of this electric roadster hitting the market in the near future is highly anticipated.

Globally, the MG Cyberster is offered in two variants: a single-motor version producing 335 hp, with torque figures yet to be disclosed, and a dual-motor variant boasting all-wheel drive, a combined power output of 536 hp, and 725 Nm of torque. The latter, equipped with a dual-motor setup, propels the Cyberster from zero to 100 kph in just 3.2 seconds, making it a formidable contender in the sports car arena.

Beyond impressive performance figures, the MG Cyberster promises an engaging driving experience. Developed with the expertise of Marco Fianello, former chassis engineer of Scuderia Ferrari, the Cyberster boasts a robust and rigid chassis, ensuring high-level driving dynamics. In a nod to classic roadster design, it features a traditional soft top, eschewing the complexity of a heavy metal folding roof mechanism.

While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the possibility of the MG Cyberster entering the market between P3-4 million could position it as one of the most compelling performance bargains of the year. As MG Philippines ventures into the electric sports car segment, the Cyberster represents a bold and promising stride into the future of automotive innovation.
