When we think about Mercedes-Benz AMG models, we typically remember tire-smoking V8 burbling monsters. In recent years though the brand has consciously tried to keep the lunacy from AMG but also be kinder to the environment.
New Mercedes-Benz AMG E53 to get Hybrid power
The brand has just announced that the famous AMG E53 will now be offered as a plug-in hybrid 6-cylinder. At its most powerful setting the new E53 makes 603 HP, but access to this power is only temporary. The full power figure is only available during launch control scenarios.
Apart from the electrified powertrain, there are also new updates to the looks. The new E53 has a reworked AMG patterened and styled front grille. There are also redesigned bumpers for the front and the rear, new side skirts, new rims, and a diffuser.
Handling and chassis improvements were also installed in the new E53, starting with a stronger construction of the body, and new brakes to improve stopping power. There is also now rear-wheel steering, as well as electronically adjustable suspension that’s paired with the all-wheel-drive system.
This new Mercedes-Benz AMG E53 will be available later this year.
