Visayas-based taxi-hailing app MiCab has now reached Metro Manila as it had inked partnerships with metro-based taxis to expand its local driver base.
As it now expands in Manila, Micab has partnered with PNTOA (Philippine National Taxi Operators Association) and ATOMM (Association of Taxi Operations in Metro Manila) to use the app for its growing base of riders. These two taxi associations, together, account for around 20,000 fleets of taxi vehicles.
“Taxi operators are one with the passengers in looking for a seamless, convenient, safe, and worry free transport service which everyone can use. This is the major reason why we are partnering with MICAB; this will allow us to provide maximum convenience to our commuting public,” said Atty. Bong Suntay, President of the PNTOA.
Originally founded in 2012 and started operating in Cebu in 2013, MiCab is a taxi-hailing cab startup originally serving those who want to hail a taxi from Cebu and Iloilo provinces, promising a “Safer and Worry-free ride” with a touch of a button and is available for Android and iOS devices. The setup is similar to GrabTaxi — a taxi booking fee will be charged on top of your current meter, and an in-app call and chat system for more security, passenger reward system, and payment by either cash or credit cards. There’s also a one-tap emergency button for those who feel threatened with their ride.
Could this be the change we are looking for? Only time could tell.
