All-new 2022 HR-V deliveries delayed, Honda uncertain on when units might arrive in PH

Who’s excited about the 2022 Honda HR-V? Have you placed your orders and reservations yet? Oh, you have? Great! … Now the question is when you’ll get your brand-spanking-new crossover. Unfortunately, the answer is that it’s uncertain.

In a public announcement, Honda Cars Philippines advised customers that there will be a delay in the arrival of the HR-V in the Philippines.

To start it all off, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is thankful to its customers. Make no mistake that this is something beyond our local distributor’s control. The Memo starts with “Please accept our sincerest appreciation for your loyalty to Honda. As we remain committed… we are appealing for more understanding on the delayed arrival of the All-New Honda HR-V.”

You’re welcome, HCPI. But what’s causing this delay? “This has been due to a global parts shortage that continues to hamper production volume, and the arrival schedule remains uncertain.” As we can see, the lasting effects of the pandemic are still being felt to this day. It’s not just Honda that’s being affected, and this issue is something that, while quite saddening, we should come to expect for the foreseeable future.

The HR-V is a very popular and in-demand model in the Honda lineup, and since its PH introduction, there was no doubt that this demand will remain the same, if not more. Even we in YugaAuto have taken a great liking to the HR-V S – its entry-level variant – and this news hits hard. Waiting to get a new car can be quite anxiety-inducing.

HCPI further went on to say “We sincerely apologize for this situation. … For your mobility needs, we offer the rest of our model line-up which we assure you are up to global standards.” We have no doubt, of course. But for the sake of those who have this specific model in mind, we hope Honda weathers this challenge out.

It isn’t easy having to apologize for a brand’s shortcomings. As unavoidable as this is, HCPI did its part by making known the challenge and being honest about what might happen. That in itself speaks volumes about a popular manufacturer’s integrity and connection with its customers.

Thanks, Honda PH! We’ll sit tight and wait.
