Geely Philippines has officially launched the Geely EX5 EM-i in the country, expanding its electrified lineup with a new plug-in hybrid model.

The EX5 EM-i follows the all-electric Geely EX5 and is built on the brand’s Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA). The platform supports multiple powertrains, including pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extender systems, and can be applied across various vehicle types, such as sedans, SUVs, and MPVs.

Geely said the launch marks a step in its global rollout of plug-in hybrid technology, backed by two decades of powertrain development.

The GEA platform is designed to integrate different energy systems within a single architecture. In the EX5 EM-i, a five-channel layout separates the fuel, electrical, and gas systems. High- and low-voltage components are isolated, while fuel and electric systems operate independently.

The vehicle also features a “6-horizontal, 4-vertical” structural layout that provides 360-degree protection. A 140mm gap between the battery and fuel tank is intended to improve safety in collisions, supported by a full chassis protection ring that absorbs impact forces.

Geely said the battery pack is integrated into the vehicle structure to improve space efficiency and protection. The layout allows the EX5 EM-i to offer interior space comparable to that of larger D-segment vehicles despite its C-segment dimensions.

The company also highlighted cabin refinement, focusing on reducing noise levels to match those of premium SUVs.

The EX5 EM-i is powered by Geely’s EM-i hybrid system. It uses a 1.5-liter engine producing 73 kW paired with an electric motor delivering 160 kW and 262 Nm of torque.

The engine achieves a claimed 46.5% thermal efficiency, while the integrated E-DHT 11-in-1 hybrid drive unit is 13.5% lighter than the previous generation. The system delivers up to 98.02% motor efficiency and 92.5% overall electric drive efficiency.

The SUV has a pure-electric range of up to 83 km according to the WLTP cycle and a combined range of up to 943 km.

The Geely EX5 EM-i is offered in two variants:

EX5 EM-i Pro – PHP 1.288 million
EX5 EM-i Max – PHP 1.468 million

Available exterior colors include Alpine White, Cloudveil Silver, Glacier Blue, Jungle Green, Polar Black, and Volcanic Gray. Buyers can choose between two interior color options: Sapphire Blue and Amber Brown.
