John Cena upgrades his FK8 to a brand new Honda Civic FL5 Type R. Yes, we can see you!

John Cena is, unabashedly, a fan of the Honda Civic Type R. So much so that he proudly shared that he’s the owner of an FK8 CTR. But that was a year ago. Fast forward, the FL5 didn’t take to Cena’s catchphrase “You can’t see me”; it made its presence seen and felt, and the multi-time WWE Champion was quick to snag it as an upgrade. His old FK8, fresh off servicing, is now up for sale.

Unexpected FL5 upgrade for Type R fanboy John Cena

As we can see from a post on his official X account, Cena just brought his FK8 to his local dealership for servicing when he saw a brand new FL5. In his words, he “fell in love”, and really, we can’t blame him.

In an interview last year, Cena had a lot of good things to say about his FK8 CTR. “It’s got tech, it’s manual, reliable. It’s got seats in the back. I can actually pick people up. If you’ve got a purse in a Countach, you’re screwed. At 145 mph, it’s stable,” he said.

That said, he took the opportunity for an unexpected upgrade. “Gone” is his blue FK8 Type R – it’s now “looking for a new home” – and in its place is a Championship White FL5. Talk about “budol”. But no, really, we don’t think anyone needs any unnecessary prodding to want to get their grubby hands on a Type R, especially the FL5.

Seeing that it’s for sale, we cannot help but wonder if his old CTR has been retained bone stock or if he’s slapped on any upgrades that we can’t see. After his stint(s) in the Fast and Furious franchise, who knows if he’s been bitten by the tuner bug like the late, great Paul Walker and whether he’s running a Honda Civic with a Spoon engine, T66 Turbo with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust? Or something like that.

For a man who maintains “You can’t see me”, we can only assume he’s a darned proud owner of an FL5 Type R, enough for him to post it for all to actually see. Good on you, John C(h)ena! Now if only our hustle, loyalty, and respect can make us afford to buy one, that would be great.
