The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has announced that it will be shortening the routes of provincial buses.
According to a report by Philippine Star, the LTFRB has sent out a new route modification policy. Under the new policy, northbound provincial buses will end their route at an interim bus terminal in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. On the other hand, southbound buses will be ending their route at a bus terminal in Valenzuela City. The LTFRB has also stated that while it will be shortening the bus routes, the agency will not be handling nor addressing the closure of the provincial bus terminals.
The agency added that the local government units (LGUs) will be the ones to shut down the terminals, per MMDA’s Resolution No. 19-002. The shut down will also take some time as the newly-elected mayors won’t be sworn in until June 30.
Bus drivers who are caught violating the LTFRB policy will be fined PHP 2,000 for each violation.
