Toyota Motor Philippines previewed their all-new EV offering in the form of the Urban Cruiser last weekend at the Toyota GAZOO RACING Philippine Cup at Riverpark, Cavite.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is now available for reservations at select Toyota dealerships nationwide with a suggested retail price of P2,135,000, and comes with a free wallbox charger and portable charger for convenience. This is ahead of its official launch on March 17.

Powering the Urban Cruiser EV is a front-mounted synchronous electric motor producing 174 hp (128 kW) and 193 Nm of torque. The model uses an eAxle design that integrates the electric motor, inverter, and reduction gears into a single compact unit. The electric SUV accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and has a top speed of 150 km/h.

The vehicle is equipped with a 61.1 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a range of 475 kilometers. Realistically, we might be able to see 400km of real world range, but we have yet to test it.

A thermal management system helps maintain the battery’s optimal temperature in both cold and hot conditions. While LFP batteries are less energy-dense than lithium-ion batteries using nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) chemistry, they are known for improved durability during frequent charge-and-discharge cycles. Charging is done via the CCS Type 2 standard, making public charging a breeze.

In terms of design, the Urban Cruiser EV adopts styling cues similar to the Toyota bZ4X, including Toyota’s new design language. The exterior also features aero-optimized bumpers, LED headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels with aero covers.

Inside, the SUV features a two-tone black-and-brown interior. Standard features include a powered driver’s seat, leather and fabric combination seats, a 10.1-inch center touchscreen, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features include ambient lighting, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and a nine-speaker JBL sound system.

The rear seats use a sliding mechanism and can fold in a 40-20-40 split, increasing cargo space from 244 liters to 310 liters, or up to 566 liters with the rear seats folded.

The Urban Cruiser isn’t the only electrified crossover that Toyota Motor Philippines is launching this March 17, as the all-new RAV4 will also be launched alongside it.
