Important Katipunan Traffic Advisory: ACET 2023 on Nov. 11, 12, expect heavy traffic

It’s that time of the year again, and ACET 2023 (Ateneo College Entrance Test) is scheduled to be held this coming weekend, November 11 and 12. With every ACET, of course, we are advising you, especially our readers who might need to pass along Katipunan Avenue on these dates that traffic may get a little bit bad as the exams are taking place.

We can still remember how examinations as big as ACET and UPCAT had to take a “break” because of the pandemic. That time is now behind us and just like last year, this year’s ACET 2023 will again push through in full face-to-face fashion. Per the usual, it’s scheduled on both day of the weekend, specifically on November 11 and 12. Exams will start at 12:00 PM and are expected to stretch until 6:30 PM. That said, traffic will inevitably build up before it even begins, and long after it’s ended.

We all know that Katipunan traffic is pretty bad daily, even on weekends. With the ACET taking place, this coming weekend will likely be worse than a normal school day. With probably close to 7,000 examinees expected to make their way into the campus, ACET 2023 will bring a deluge of vehicles along both sides/lanes of Katipunan Avenue, as well as its interior roads like B. Gonzales, E. Abada, R. Alvero, and even Xavierville Avenue.

Everyone is advised to plan their routes accordingly, and if possible, avoid Katipunan unless it’s really necessary. Traffic in the area during ACET weekend has consistently been jam-packed, and this year won’t be any better or lighter, that’s for sure.

To the examinees who might be reading this, good luck to you all! To our readers and motorists who’ve reached the end of this article, keep cool, and again, plan your routes for this coming weekend.
