Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid gets PH release, priced at an incredible PHP 1.350M

Chery’s automobiles have been selling pretty well, this much we cannot deny. With the surprise release of the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid, it’s looking to one-up the competition. With a crossover in almost every size imaginable, the addition of this mildly electrified variant sets a trajectory for other brands from Korea, Japan, and more so China, and at its price point, it’s going to be pretty tough to beat.

The Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid was first seen at this year’s Manila International Auto Show. Not much has been heard of it since then, but in the wee hours of the night – 2 nights ago – we came across the image that you see above. Two months after its appearance, Chery Auto Philippines is making it available and at an impressive price to boot.

As we’ve mentioned, it will be a mild Hybrid in that while it does have a 48V electric motor, it is not used to drive the vehicle. Instead, it stores energy gathered from braking, and its charge is used to maintain electrical power delivery to essentials such as air conditioning while an auto start-stop function cuts power to the engine when stopped for an extended period of time. This cuts emissions and makes it eligible to fall into the EVIDA law. A long story short, it will (and should be) exempted from Coding. That in itself is already a big draw for many buyers.

Other standard features of the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid, which will pretty much serve as the top-of-the-line variant, include a 12.3″ LCD gauge cluster, a power tailgate, a wireless charging pad, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto/QD Mirror Link, a 360-degree around view monitor, and 6 SRS airbags.

We would like to specifically look at the fact that the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid is another China-made model. That said, its closest competition will be another heavy-selling model in the PH, the Ford Territory. With the Territory’s base variant being upped from the outgoing model, the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid’s price will undercut that, and the top-of-the-line Titanium X as well. Add to that the warranty coverage that Chery offers, this is a strongly-positioned model, both market- and price-wise.

Chery‘s out to shake up the market, for sure. And with the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid, it looks like it’s only just begun.
