UV Express seeks 100% fare hike

Listen to article

Jeepney, taxi, and TNVs’ drivers already requested to raise fares in the wake of the impending fuel price hike as a result of the tax reform law. And now, UV Express also filed a petition for a fare hike which will likely double the amount of the current fare.

In an ABS-CBN report, Code X, a group of UV Express operators, have demanded to ramp up twice the Php2 per kilometer fare due to the increase spare parts and terminal fee. They also expect to feel the burden of the skyrocketing prices of petroleum products soon as a result of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (Train) law.

– Lino Marable, President of Code X

LTFRB responded that they will study the said petition and will release the decision soon.

If you’re requesting for a fare hike, you have to substantiate it.

Twice the current fare is too much.
