The company said Filipino car buyers are now looking beyond basic electrification and are prioritizing practicality, safety, driving range, and everyday convenience. Central to the AION V is the AEP 3.0 platform, GAC Group’s fully developed electric vehicle architecture designed exclusively for EVs rather than adapted from internal combustion vehicle platforms.

According to GAC, the AEP 3.0 platform enables better integration among the battery, electric motor, and vehicle structure, thereby improving efficiency, safety, and performance. The platform’s electric drive system achieves more than 90 percent energy conversion efficiency, helping maximize driving range and energy use.

The battery layout is integrated into the chassis, lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity by up to 20 percent compared to traditional combustion-engine vehicles. GAC said this contributes to improved stability, handling, and ride control. The company also claimed that integrating the battery into the vehicle structure increases body rigidity by around 15 to 20 percent, improving both handling and crash protection.

GAC added that the platform’s intelligent energy management system improves efficiency by 10-15 percent compared to non-dedicated EV platforms, helping maintain consistent performance in tropical climates such as the Philippines.

The automaker also highlighted its “Magazine Battery 2.0” technology, a waterproof, high-temperature-resistant battery system designed to reduce the risk of thermal incidents. GAC said the battery is the industry’s only “gunshot non-flammable” battery technology.

Built on the AEP 3.0 platform, the AION V is marketed as a family-oriented electric SUV that combines long range, fast charging, and interior flexibility. The vehicle offers a claimed driving range of more than 600 kilometers on a single charge based on the NEDC standard. GAC said this could allow trips such as Manila to Ilocos or Manila to Bicol with proper planning.

The AION V can also charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in around 20 minutes, restoring more than 300 kilometers of driving range during a short charging stop.
GAC said electric vehicles like the AION V can reduce energy costs by 50 to 70 percent per kilometer compared to fuel-powered vehicles, while maintenance expenses can be reduced by 30 to 50 percent due to fewer moving components.

For safety, the AION V uses 1500 MPa ultra-high-strength hot-formed submarine-grade steel in its structure, which GAC said is up to three times stronger than conventional automotive materials. The SUV also comes with seven airbags, including 2.3-meter side curtain airbags designed to protect both front and rear occupants. These airbags can maintain pressure for up to six seconds during multi-impact collisions.

Inside the cabin, the AION V features a 14.6-inch infotainment display, voice controls, wireless charging, and a one-touch reclining system that transforms the cabin into a flat resting space. The center console also includes a built-in refrigerator for added convenience during long drives or heavy traffic.

GAC Motor Philippines said the AEP 3.0 platform helps improve the AION V’s overall usability by delivering smoother handling, quieter operation, and better efficiency for daily driving and long-distance travel.

The company is also offering promotional pricing for the AION V until May 31, 2026. The AION V Elite is priced at PHP 1.418 million, down from its original MSRP of PHP 1.498 million, while the AION V Premium is available for PHP 1.598 million, down from PHP 1.698 million.
