It’s a new year, and with it, BMW PH is giving their 2-Series lineup 2 new variants to spruce things up. Last year saw the launch of a lone model, the 220i M Sport, and 2023 is bringing in the 218i Coupe M Sport and the M240i XDrive Coupe. Let’s have a look at these two new specimens, shall we?

A notch lower than the 220i, the 218i now slots in as the base model 2-Series. But being “base” doesn’t mean you get less. Upgrades to the 218i include a lot of M bits like M High Gloss Shadow Line, M Sport Suspension, M Rear Spoiler, and 18” M Light alloy wheel Double-spoke Style 848 M Bicolour with mixed tires.
Interior bits of the 218i include Sport Seats and a BMW M leather steering wheel highlighted by the gear shift paddles that come as standard. A combination of Alcantara – Sensatec upholstery enhances comfort together with the Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite M interior trim.

The 218i also features the BMW Live Cockpit Plus, which includes the BMW Curved Display that seamlessly integrates a 12.3” digital instrument cluster and 14.9” widescreen display and runs on the latest BMW iDrive software, Operating System 8.0.
These allow the driver and passengers to experience the best-in-class intuitive infotainment system. It comes with Smartphone Integration – Apple Carplay and Android Auto, as well as connectivity options to let passengers seamlessly integrate and enjoy their entertainment preferences in the vehicle.
Power comes by way of a TwinPower Turbo 2.0L In-line 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with an 8-speed Steptronic Automatic transmission with Gearshift Paddles. It is good for 250 Nm of torque and puts outs a maximum of 156 HP. These enable the 218i Coupé M Sport to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.7 seconds.
The 218i Coupe M Sport retails for PHP 3,590,000USD 60,958INR 5,188,627EUR 58,697CNY 445,160 and comes with a 5-year comprehensive warranty.

The heart of the M240i is the B58 engine. It is a TwinPower Turbo 3.0L inline-6 petrol engine that produces 374 HP and 500 Nm of torque mated to a ZF 8-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels via the xDrive all-wheel drive system. It’s 0-100 km/time? A quick 4.3 seconds. And if you want to have fun with it on-track, the rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive system combined with the Adaptive M Suspension and M Sport Differential gives the M240i sharp handling with a very high level of grip.
The M240i xDrive Coupe retails at PHP 4,890,000USD 83,032INR 7,067,517EUR 79,952CNY 606,360 and comes with the industry-leading comprehensive 5-year warranty as well.
