In an interview with GMA Network’s Unang Hirit, LTFRB Board Member Eileen Lizada clarifies that the order for the said new fare hike has not been implemented yet due to revisions with their legal team. This is amidst reports that several jeepneys have started to charge their passengers with the new fare.

As such, commuters are hereby advised to file a complaint at the LTFRB in case they encounter erring jeepney drivers that have already started to charge the new fare. Jeepneys are hereby advised to wait for the body’s order before starting to charge the new fare.

Last Wednesday, the government agency has approved a Php1 minimum fare hike for Jeepneys with routes in NCR, Region III, and Region IV-A. Said measure, according to Lizada, is to aid drivers with the rising inflation and diesel prices. Transport groups have earlier asked for a Php10-12 minimum jeepney fare in separate petitions against the LTFRB, to which the board has yet to hear.
