As part of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration, the LRT-2 and MRT-3 are giving free train rides to all government employees from today, September 18 to September 20, 2023. All government employees will simply have to present their valid government (employee) ID to be able to use the trains for free. There is one catch, though, and that is there’s a schedule within which free rides can be taken.

This year marks the 123rd anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service. As a way of giving back, both the Light Rail Transit 2 and the Metro Rail Transit 3 are giving free train rides to all employees of the Philippine government. It’s worth noting, though, that two schedules have been allotted for the Libreng Sakay for qualified employees.

Both the Light Rail Transit and Metro Rail Transit will be giving free rides in two batches; one in the morning from 7:00 to 9:00 AM, and one in the afternoon from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. As we can see above, any government employee who wishes to take advantage of the free train ride must present his or her government (employee) ID at the Station Teller or to the Station Guards to be granted free entry.

While most of us think that there are a lot in “positions of power” that abuse their seat, there are still those who work diligently, and honorably. This one is more for them than those who are the opposite. There’s really no way that the railways can tell them apart, but regardless, small ways of giving back to the honest employee should give anyone a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling.
