Toyota-made Daihatsu vehicles have been having a tough time lately, last year saw the partnership strained by multiple recalls and safety infringements. There was a recent issue where some cars weren’t up to the standard which saw another recall, fortunately, that didn’t affect the Philippines.
Unfortunately, another recall is underway and some units sold here are affected.
Toyota-Daihatsu models PH recall
It was announced that a total of 10,975 units of the Raize, Avanza, and Veloz may have brake issues. Specifically, “Due to an assembly fault at the brake caliper assembly line, the assembly tools interfered with the slide pin boots during assembly. This can cause damage to the pin boot. If the water enters in the slide pin boots, it can cause rust which may lead to the early wear of the brake pads”.
Here is the official breakdown of affected models:
Raize – 4,345 (Units built from September 12, 2022 – January 13, 2023)
Veloz – 3,511 (Units built from September 12, 2022 – December 13, 2022)
Avanza – 3,199 (Units built from September 12, 2022 – December 11, 2022)
If your particular vehicle is affected please do contact your service advisor or head over to your nearest Toyota 17 dealership to remedy the problem.
A recall is a good thing. Nothing is perfect yet Toyota Motor Philippines is owning up to this issue.
