A few days ago, LTFRB approved the PHP 2.00 fare hike for jeepneys that will be effective next month. Then just recently, another approved fare hike has emerged, but this time, it’s for commuter buses.
Last February 2018, Southern Luzon Bus Operators Association, Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Nangangasiwa ng Panlalawigang Bus sa Pilipinas, and Samahang Transport Operators ng Pilipinas Inc. filed a joint petition for a fare hike and was granted by the board last October 17, 2018.
The PHP 1.00 fare hike will cover routes in Metro Manila and will be effective on the first week of November. This means that the PHP 10-12 minimum fare will now be PHP 11-13.
Provincial buses were also granted a hike from PHP 1.40 to PHP 1.55 for every succeeding non-aircon buses and PHP 1.60 to PHP 1.75 for air-conditioned ones.
