At the 2025 New York International Auto Show, Kia introduced the 2026 K4 Hatchback, expanding its K4 lineup with a more compact and versatile option aimed at active drivers. Building on the success of the K4 sedan, the hatchback version offers similar features while improving cargo space and maneuverability, making it a practical choice for city driving and weekend getaways.

“The strong reaction to last year’s hatchback teaser made it clear we were on the right track,” said Steven Center, COO & EVP of Kia America. “This hatchback builds on the sedan’s momentum, offering turbo power, a sport-tuned suspension, and added versatility in a smaller footprint.”

The K4 Hatchback retains key design elements from the K4 sedan, including its bold stance and vertical LED lighting inspired by the EV9. A floating roof design and integrated rear door handles give it a more athletic profile. Though it’s 11 inches shorter than the sedan (10.6 inches for the GT-Line), the hatchback maintains class-leading rear legroom and gains an inch of rear headroom. Cargo capacity is 22.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats, expandable to 59.3 cubic feet with the seats folded.

Available in standard and GT-Line trims, the hatchback includes design upgrades for the GT-Line such as 18-inch alloy wheels (standard trims get 17s), gloss black trim pieces, and a power sunroof. The GT-Line Turbo adds features like small cube LED headlights, fog lights, and 16-inch front brakes.

Inside, the K4 Hatchback features a nearly 30-inch dual digital display and Kia’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC). Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a wireless phone charger, are standard across all trims. Optional features include heated front seats, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and Kia’s Digital Key 2.0, which allows compatible smartphones to act as keys.

Digital services available through the Kia Connect Store provide over-the-air software updates, music streaming, and WiFi hotspot access. A built-in AI voice assistant, activated with “Hey Kia,” allows drivers to adjust settings, manage entertainment, and access information using natural language commands.

The K4 Hatchback offers two engine options: a standard 2.0-liter engine producing 147 hp and 179 Nm of torque paired with an intelligent variable transmission, and an optional 1.6-liter turbocharged engine delivering 190 hp and 264 Nm of torque via an 8-speed automatic. GT-Line trims come with a sport-tuned suspension for enhanced handling.
The vehicle includes Kia’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as Lane Keeping Assist and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go. Optional features include Evasive Steering Assist, Highway Driving Assist 2, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, and Surround-View Monitor.
