Libre Sakay Program from Dona Carmen to Welcome Rotonda serviced over 8,000 passengers in October

Due to the pandemic and the consequent lockdowns, the public transport system in our country suffered multiple setbacks and disruptions. The problem with that is the fact that a lot of the essential workers still needed to get around in order to keep the vital services up and running, one such program seemingly wanted to address that, the Libre Sakay program.

MMDA: Libre Sakay along Commonwealth Ave serviced 8,400 passengers during October

The Libre Sakay program encompasses most of the public transportation sector from the LRT and MRT all the way to the public utility buses. Over the course of the past year, since the country has opened up more to allow for more economic activity, the DOTr and MMDA have been constantly furthering the Libre Sakay program.

Another milestone has just been hit by the program, particularly along Commonwealth Ave. (Dona Carmen to Welcome Rotonda and back). The MMDA posted on its official Facebook page that during the month of October that particular route serviced 8,402 while using both air-conditioned and non-airconditioned buses.

While it may seem like a small figure, looking at the bigger picture it shows how essential the program has become for the commuting public. Yes, improvement of the overall public transportation system and condition is still needed because long uncomfortable lines still exist. However in the meantime, as public transportation is being improved, programs like these still help the overall commuting public by saving much-needed money on a daily basis.
