The construction of the MRT-7 along Commonwealth is in full swing. Following the latest traffic advisory from the Department of Transportation, expect very bad traffic at night when approaching the Regalado-Fairlane area of the avenue due to the steel structure works that are scheduled to be done. The duration of nightly lane closures will last close to an estimated 6 months.
Traffic advisory for Regalado Avenue – Fairlane Street Temporary Closure every night
The closure of the portion of the road between Regalado Avenue and Fairlane Street will be due to the installation of the steel structure that will support the Regalado Station of the MRT-7. The road closures will be implemented along both the Westbound and Eastbound lanes; the times and dates of which will depend on the side where the structure will be worked on. According to the DOTr, the schedules are as follows:
Westbound / QC Circle-bound Lane Closure
Closure dates: July 25, 2023 – August 15, 2023 AND August 16, 2023 – November 26, 2023
Closure times: 10:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Here is where it gets confusing, ladies and gentlemen. As can also be seen in the comments on the DOTr’s Traffic Advisory post on its social media account, netizens noticed an overlap of construction dates, specifically from August 8 – November 26. Closure of the Eastbound lane starts on August 8, but during that time, the Westbound lane is already scheduled to be closed from 10 PM-5 AM as well. The last day of the Westbound lane closure is on November 26, so until such time, there is an overlap in the schedules posted in the DOTr’s Traffic Advisory.
We have already sought clarification from the Department, but have yet to receive a reply. We will update this entry once better information comes in, so please bookmark this page for easier reference in the future.
UPDATE AS OF 23 JUNE 2023 – There won’t be a total road closure between the dates of 08 August 2023 – 15 August 2023.
Though there are overlapping dates in the advisory, there won’t be a total road closure on the east bound since the activities thereat during the dates of 08 August 2023 to 15 August 2023 won’t entail a full road closure. Also, the MMDA and QC LGU did not permit a total road closure on the said area. We apologize for the confusion. Thank you!
The DOTr has likewise included in the traffic advisory that they ask for the motoring public’s cooperation and understanding. Despite the construction works’ nighttime schedule, a build-up is inevitable. This author lives around this area and now that it’s officially been announced, can attest to the traffic jams that can start all the way from Batasan-IBP road towards Fairview, and farther still in the opposite direction.
Again, per the traffic advisory, the road closure for the Westbound side will be from July 25, 2023 – August 15, 2023, AND August 16, 2023 – November 26, 2023, and the Eastbound side from August 8, 2023 – September 22, 2023, AND September 23, 2023 – December 6, 2023.
Yes, patience will be a virtue for those who are from this area. Hopefully, the MRT-7’s construction will be completed sooner than later so that it can finally benefit the hundreds of commuters going to and from this side of Quezon City, and Metro Manila.
