A summarized look at the new LRT-1 and LRT-2 fare matrix effective August 2

On August 2, the fare prices for both LRT-1 and 2 will increase. Our previous articles on the matter simply indicated the amounts to be added to the base fare and the add-on for every kilometer traveled. The Light Rail Manila Corporation and Light Rail Transit Authority have released the new fare matrix for both lines and now we bring them to you.

Line 1, or for those taking the LRMC, the fares set for holders of the Stored Value Card (SVC) will be from PHP 14USD 0.24INR 20EUR 0.23CNY 2-35. Those who purchase Single Journey Tickets will have fares that will range from PHP 15USD 0.25INR 22EUR 0.25CNY 2-35.

As for those taking trains under the LRTA or Line 2, SVC fares will range between PHP 14USD 0.24INR 20EUR 0.23CNY 2-33, and Single Journey Ticket Holders will have to pay anywhere between PHP 15USD 0.25INR 22EUR 0.25CNY 2-35.

In line with this fare price adjustment, it’s been reported that the MRT-3 will also be putting a petition forward to up its rates. The target increase for the base fare is PHP 2.29USD 0.04INR 3EUR 0.04CNY 0.28 and an additional PHP 0.21USD 0.00INR 0.30EUR 0.00CNY 0.03 for every added kilometer traveled. While it may not be welcome news, perhaps it was also to be expected.
