Yesterday, we reported that the MMDA has lifted the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), more commonly known as vehicle “coding” starting today, April 12. As expected, one city that’s known for having rules that supersede the MMDA’s declarations will not follow suit: the City of Makati.
While the greater part of Metro Manila will enjoy traveling across different cities without worrying about being apprehended, the local government of Makati has announced that the city’s coding scheme will only be suspended on Maundy Thursday, April 14, and Good Friday, April 15. The only caveat here is that coded vehicles (7 & 8 ending plates on Thursday, and 9 & 0 on Friday) who will enter Makati city limits but will only pass through along EDSA will not be apprehended. But if motorists find themselves in any other part of Makati from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, they can expect to be hailed by traffic enforcers.
Everywhere else in Metro Manila, the current coding hours are only from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM from Monday to Friday. For this week, motorists wouldn’t have to worry about that. Those that need to go to Makati will have to find other means if their vehicle is coded until tomorrow, Wednesday the 13th of April. Trust us, you wouldn’t want to get a ticket for violating Coding in Makati.
