ACET 2022 is happening this weekend, expect Katipunan traffic to be extremely bad

Face-to-face classes are back, and so is the Ateneo’s college entrance exam. ACET 2022 is scheduled to happen this coming weekend, October 29 and 30, and as always, exam-takers and motorists can expect a pretty bad jam along Katipunan on both exam days.

Since the start of the pandemic, the ACET took a backseat in the name of health and safety. With restrictions starting to ease (by a whole lot), ACET 2022 is going to push through. More than 7,000 students are expected to take the exam and because there will be two batches per day – and for two days – everyone should brace themselves for the accompanying traffic jam to and from Katipunan.

The Ateneo de Manila University posted an announcement on its official Facebook page asking that trips be planned accordingly given the volume of vehicles that will inevitably clog the avenue over the weekend. Those traveling to and from the east side of the Metro coming from the north would normally take Katipunan Avenue as their route, but this weekend may entail further planning of routes, or just staying home altogether if it can be helped.

Even on normal days, there is a very strong traffic enforcer presence along the stretch of Katipunan, and they may be needed a whole lot more for this year’s ACET. Traffic jams came back with a vengeance in the Katipunan area, and these two extra days may become chaotic, to say the least, with many not being too familiar with the traffic and parking situation inside the University.

As we said, do try to avoid the area if you can, pick your routes carefully, and if you can help, perhaps staying home to avoid traffic altogether may be a good idea, too.

To motorists who will brave Katipunan and to those who will take part in ACET 2022 this weekend, good luck to you all!
