As we write this, we can only wish we can bring you, our readers, some good news when it comes to fuel prices. But alas, that is not meant to be. Today sees another increase for both gasoline and diesel products, which marks the 8th consecutive for the former, and the 9th for the latter. By the time you read this, pumps will already indicate the higher prices per liter, much to our collective chagrin.
Fuel price increase still on a streak, 8 weeks for gasoline, 9 weeks for diesel
At the rate things are going, it seems that we’re going to see more fuel price increases than rollbacks by the time the year ends. As of today, a sad streak of hikes continues, and after 8 weeks, gas again goes up by PHP 0.50USD 0.01INR 0.72EUR 0.01CNY 0.06 and after 9 weeks, diesel goes up as well by PHP 1.20USD 0.02INR 2EUR 0.02CNY 0.15.
We can all expect most fuel providers to already have pumps updating the higher costs per liter as of this posting.
As always, the earliest to update is Caltex; they do so at 12:01 AM every Tuesday. A lot of the the other players such as Shell, Petron, Seaoil, Petro Gazz, and Unioil update a little later at 6:00 AM. Cleanfuel, though, as we’ve come to expect, always gives more time for its patrons to enjoy the past week’s lower fuel prices per liter; they will update their pump prices at 4:01 PM this afternoon.
To say that every drop of fuel counts is very much an understatement already, and to remind everyone to plan their travel ahead already moot. Despite planning, traffic has gotten much worse as the school year has already begun, and getting stuck in traffic means all of us will be consuming more fuel, whether it be gasoline or diesel. So, perhaps we can offer you this quick guide on how to possibly make your fuel top-up last – hopefully – a little bit longer.
Fuel has very quickly become a rather painful weekly experience, and we can only hope that things start leveling out sooner rather than later. These trips to the gas station are really starting to hurt everyone’s wallets already.
