“It doesn’t matter if fuel prices rollback by a centavo or a peso. A rollback is a rollback.” Okay, we probably forced that one, but tomorrow will see the streak of price hikes in gasoline and diesel products finally broken. After increasing for 10 and 11 straight weeks, respectively, both gas and diesel will go down tomorrow by PHP 0.20 per liter. Very, no, extremely modest, but we’ll take it.
Fuel price hike streak finally broken, but very minimally so
Finally, some good news for motorists as far as fuel prices go. The consecutive weeks of increases in both gas and diesel prices have become a very big burden to everyone who needs to fill their fuel tanks. Tomorrow, prices per liter go down, but only by a very small amount: PHP 0.20 for both gas and diesel.
Most brands will update their prices at the stroke of 6:00 AM, and this list includes the likes of Petron, Shell, Seaoil, Jetti, Phoenix, Flying V, and PTT. There are other players, though, who will update prices earlier, and you can expect as much from Cleanfuel and Caltex; their pumps will reflect the lower prices per liter at 12:01 AM.
It may not be the rollback that we hoped for or really like, but perhaps we can take this as a win. We certainly hope this starts a downtrend for fuel prices from hereon, but of course, we won’t hold our breath. Petroleum product prices have been very volatile (pardon our choice of words) and there’s just no way to tell if they will continue to go down, or horror of horrors, go up again.
That said, let’s all do what we can to enjoy this rollback and make the best out of our top-up tomorrow and for the rest of the week.
