PIMS 2024 – Stronger Ford Ranger Raptor 3.0L V6 launched, limited to 300 units

There can never be too many Ranger variants, yes? Ford agrees, so much so that they just launched the new Ranger Raptor 3.0L V6, a stronger and more capable variant of its heavy-duty sports pickup truck. Choosing PIMS 2024 as their stage, the Blue Oval has added another to the already extensive choices for the Raptor, and it came a-packing.

Before we get to the heart of it all – which is the engine – let’s talk about all the other goodies that this new Ranger Raptor comes with.

First, it features a lot of options for customization with the MyMode R button. From steering, suspension, exhaust mode, auto-start/stop activation, the four-wheel drive mode, and even whether the rear electronic differential should be on or off, this button does it all. There is a total of 4 exhaust modes, 4 steering modes, and 3 suspension modes available.

Providing the off-road capabilities are lightweight aluminum upper and lower control arms, long travel front and rear suspension, and a  refined Watt’s link rear end designed to deliver more control across rough terrain at high speed. FOX 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shock absorbers filled with Teflon-infused oil that reduces friction by around 50% compared to those on the old generation Raptor offer position-sensitive damping capability.

And now for the best stuff. the Ranger Raptor 3.0L V6 gets an advanced permanent four-wheel drive system with an electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case, combined with front and rear locking differentials. This twin-turbo EcoBoost engine produces 397 HP max power and 583Nm max torque mated to a performance-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission with an anti-lag system available in Baja mode intended for off-road use only.

In line with this, you get 3 On-Road Drive modes (Normal, Sport, Slippery) and 4 Off-Road Drive modes (Rock Crawl, Sand, Mud/Ruts, Baja). Each drive mode adjusts a number of elements from engine and transmission performance to ABS sensitivity and calibration, traction and stability controls, exhaust valve actuation, steering, throttle response, and even the instrument cluster and center touchscreen.

Here comes the sticking point. The Ford Ranger Raptor 3.0L V6 is available in Arctic White, Absolute Black, Blue Lightning, Command Grey, and Code Orange (additional PHP 15,000). It is priced at PHP 2,739,000 and comes with a 5-year warranty.

At the rate things are going, there’s no stopping Ford‘s engineering (and Marketing?) team from coming up with more and more variants, editions, and options for the Ranger, and even the Raptor. Not that we’re complaining, though. We do have the Bronco for more “hardcore” off-road truck pursuits, but for those who simply want to have pickups and beds as toys, this one’s a pretty solid choice to consider.
