8 brand spanking new electric e-QCity buses to join city fleet

Keeping up with the times (and the law), the Quezon City LGU is set to deploy 8 units of the e-QCity Bus. This is the city’s answer to making use of electrified vehicles as a means of public transportation, and as it stands, these new buses will be added to the already more-than-100-strong fleet of QCity buses already plying the roads of QC.

It was only last week that Mayor Joy Belmonte, along with City Administrator Mike Alimurung and the rest of Team QC, inspected the readiness of 8 units of the e-QCity bus. This effort is in line with, and can be seen as the start of the City’s transition towards an electric fleet with respect to Republic Act No. 11697 or the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act or EVIDA Law.

The e-QCity buses have a 41-seat capacity and are also equipped with ramps to make easier boarding and alighting of passengers who may have dis- or different abilities. Seeing as they run on batteries and electricity, it’s been estimated that they will contribute to a 25% reduction of black carbon emissions of and by the transportation sector. Ultimately, cleaner air is the end-goal of such a transition, and how can we not get behind an effort such as that, right?

For your reference, we have posted the complete, easy to follow list of all 8 routes, stations, and operating times of the current QCity buses on our site. Just to give more information, choosing to take this bus line is also free; you don’t even have to be a Quezon City resident to enjoy that benefit! Here’s what you need to know about the QCity Bus going free for all.

We’ve said it then, and we say it again: thank you for doing your bit for Mother Nature, QC! Now comes the part where we find ways for our commuters to have responsible PUV drivers, and to find measures to take care of all our e-QCity and “old” QCity buses, yes?
