BMW updates the 4-Series for its Life Cycle Impulse

BMW is set to roll out enhancements to its 4 Series coupe and convertible models in 2025, marking a mid-cycle refresh. The updates encompass subtle changes to the exterior design, contributing to a price increase across the entire lineup.

Among the exterior alterations are headlight modifications, featuring a single LED module for both low- and high-beam lights. Laserlight taillights, illuminated by laser diodes and a glass fiber bundle, are now standard for the M440i and an optional feature for the 430i when equipped with the Shadowline Package.

The 430i and M440i, available with xDrive all-wheel drive, showcase distinct grille designs. The entry-level model sports mesh on the air intakes and a matte chrome surround, while the M440i boasts a high-gloss black grille surround with horizontally arranged bars, complemented by the M badge. Additionally, the M440i exhibits high-gloss black front apron elements and trapezoidal tailpipes, replacing the previous Cerium Gray paint.

Under the hood, the 430i retains BMW’s B48 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, maintaining its output at 255 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The power figures remain consistent despite new features like redesigned intake ports and combustion chambers.

The M440i, on the other hand, houses BMW’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine, now integrated with a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup. While the engine’s standalone output is reduced to 375 hp due to a new particulate filter, the inclusion of a crankshaft-mounted starter-generator contributes an additional 11 hp, resulting in an official total of 386 hp. The combined torque is rated at 540 Nm.

Interior updates include fresh steering wheel designs, with the standard wheel featuring two spokes for the 430i and the M Sport package offering a three-spoke, flat-bottomed leather option. The Shadowline pack introduces tri-color M stitching and a red stripe at the 12 o’clock position on the upgraded wheel.

Customers can also choose from various BMW Individual paint finishes. Two new 19-inch wheel designs, accompanied by performance or all-season tires, are on offer, along with an optional M Carbon Exterior Package featuring mirror caps and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic air intake inserts.
