
Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) gave us a surprise last night when they officially introduced the IONIQ 9, a new full-size electric SUV, alongside an updated version of the IONIQ 5, during a launch event at the Ayala Museum in Makati right after they introduced the all-new Palisade Hybrid. These two models strengthen Hyundai’s EV lineup, demonstrating the brand’s focus on sustainable mobility and modern design.
Hyundai IONIQ 9:

The IONIQ 9 is Hyundai’s latest addition to its all-electric IONIQ series. Positioned as a large electric SUV, it offers a blend of practicality, comfort, and advanced features, making it ideal for families or customers seeking a spacious electric vehicle.

With a 3130mm wheelbase and six-seat layout, the IONIQ 9 features a lounge-like interior equipped with comfort relaxation seats and a flat-folding function. It offers up to 1323L of cargo space and features a curved panoramic infotainment display, a BOSE sound system, digital mirrors, and a built-in dashcam.


Externally, the IONIQ 9 boasts a sleek, aerodynamic profile for its size, characterized by cube-shaped projection headlights and flush door handles. Under the hood, it runs on a 110.3kWh battery, offering up to 600 km of all-electric range (AER) and a charging time as short as 24 minutes. It also supports Multi-Terrain Control and both interior and exterior V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capabilities for added utility.


Safety is addressed through Hyundai SmartSense, which includes advanced driver-assistance features and ten airbags. The IONIQ 9 is priced at PHP 4,580,000 and is available through a made-to-order process at select Hyundai dealerships. Customers can choose from 10 exterior and 4 interior colors, offering up to 39 combinations. Hyundai Philippines states that the lead time for your bespoke configuration will be only two months. Very impressive.

Updated Hyundai IONIQ 5:

Hyundai also unveiled a refreshed version of the IONIQ 5. The updated model gets a new front bumper, redesigned alloy wheels, and the addition of a rear wiper. Digital side mirrors improve aerodynamics and visibility.

It now offers up to 530 km of all-electric range (Long Range variant) and 229 PS of output, suitable for both city and highway driving. Inside, the updated IONIQ 5 features an in-vehicle V2L function and expanded Hyundai SmartSense features, including Reverse Parking Collision Avoidance Assist and Side Parking Distance Warning.



Pricing for the updated IONIQ 5 is as follows:
IONIQ 5 EV GL 2WD Standard Range: PHP 2,840,000
IONIQ 5 EV GLS 2WD Standard Range: PHP 3,068,000
IONIQ 5 EV GLS 2WD Long Range: PHP 3,698,000
Like the IONIQ 9, the IONIQ 5 is made-to-order, with up to 36 color combinations from nine exterior and four interior color options.
