Android Auto now also a standalone app for your smartphone

When Android Auto has launched two years ago, it was exclusive to a few compatible cars and countries. It eventually rolled out to more nations but still, you’ll need a new car that works with it despite it being an app on your phone. But, Google realized it would be better as a phone app.

Android Auto can now be used on your phone display like how most drivers on the road would like especially when you own an older car model. The new update will be available for any Android phone running Lollipop 5.0 and later.

Apart from that, the update also included automatic launch when the phone gets paired with your car’s Bluetooth. Enhanced support for hands-free voice commands is also in the works.

The update (Google Play download) is currently rolling out to select countries when Android Auto is officially available and that doesn’t include the Philippines, yet. Good thing, you can download the APK file (APKMirror download) and test out if it works fine on your end.
