Last year Changan previewed what they defined to be a game-changing pickup that would shake up the segment. The vehicle in question is the Hunter RE-EV, and it was displayed during the 2024 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
Changan Hunter to debut at MIAS 2025?
Since last year’s preview the brand has been quiet about the Hunter, but just last week on the official brand Facebook page, they teased a possible launch:
So what makes the Hunter something worthwhile? Well for starters it’s an extended range or range extender-powered pickup, it does retain a gasoline engine (possibly the 2.0-liter turbo) that serves as a generator for the 31.18 kWh battery that powers either a dual or single motor system. This in effect makes the Hunter a hybrid pickup truck, something novel in the market until BYD launched the Shark 6 DMO.
No details have of course been confirmed yet, but a teaser does point to a launch soon, and MIAS 2025 is just around the corner.
