During a premiere event at the Goldstein House in Los Angeles, Hyundai Motor Company introduced the IONIQ 9, a three-row all-electric SUV. Designed to showcase Hyundai’s EV innovation and commitment to sustainability, the IONIQ 9 continues the legacy of the IONIQ lineup, following the success of the award-winning IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6.
The IONIQ 9 offers seating for up to seven occupants, prioritizing comfort and space. With features like Relaxation Seats capable of full recline and Dynamic Body Care massage functions, passengers can enjoy optimal comfort during long journeys. Swiveling second-row seats allow enhanced interaction among occupants, while a versatile Universal Island 2.0 console adds convenience with significant storage and accessibility.
Sustainability is central to the IONIQ 9’s design, featuring eco-friendly materials such as recycled fabrics, bio-based finishes, and paint derived from recycled tire waste.
The IONIQ 9’s “Aerosthetic” design combines aerodynamic efficiency with modern styling. Its streamlined profile boasts a low drag coefficient of 0.259, aided by features like active air flaps and aerodynamic wheels. The SUV’s signature Parametric Pixel LED lights enhance its futuristic appeal, while its expansive 3,130 mm wheelbase creates a spacious cabin and bold stance.
Built on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the IONIQ 9 features a high-capacity 110.3 kWh battery, offering an estimated range of 620 km (WLTP). Its 350 kW fast-charging capability allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes. Three powertrain options include a rear-wheel-drive model and two all-wheel-drive variants, with the Performance model accelerating from zero-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
The IONIQ 9 has advanced features, including a panoramic curved display integrating a 12-inch cluster and a 12-inch infotainment monitor. A premium BOSE audio system, over-the-air updates, and Hyundai’s AI Assistant enhance the driving experience. Features on Demand (FoD) enable buyers to customize their vehicles with digital upgrades.
Systems like dynamic torque vectoring, lateral wind stability control, and a robust suspension setup bolster safety and performance. The IONIQ 9 can tow up to 2,500 kg, and trailer mode optimizes performance for heavy loads.
Hyundai plans to launch the IONIQ 9 in Korea and the U.S. in the first half of 2025, followed by Europe and other markets. Pricing and detailed specifications will be announced closer to the release date.
