It’s official: LTFRB increases taxi fares in new resolution

The Land Transport Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved the increase of taxi fares in a board resolution issued earlier today.

ltfrb • It's official: LTFRB increases taxi fares in new resolution

Under the said resolution, the Php40 flag down rate shall now be the permanent base fare for all taxis in the National Capital region and other Luzon provinces, excluding the Cordillera Administrative Region, with distances covered at Php13.50 per kilometer, while an additional Php2 per minute fare will be imposed to the time travelled from point of origin to destination.

It has been said that the LTFRB has been looking into raising the taxi fares as they try to compete head=to-head with Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) companies such as Uber and Grab, the LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III mentioned in an interview last month. “Ang gagawin, we will try to make it at par with TNVS or more particularly with the Uber system kasi nade-dehado daw yung mga taxi drivers ngayon,” Delgra mentioned during the Department of Transportation budget hearing in the Senate last September 13.

The new taxi fares will be effective from date of publishing in major newspapers, unless otherwise revoked or cancelled by the board.

  1. parang mali ata ang naisip ng LTFRB..

“It has been said that the LTFRB has been looking into raising the taxi fares as they try to compete head=to-head with Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) companies such as Uber and Grab”

now, kung ako ang pasahero… ill be thinking this way….

“same price lang nmn ang TAXI at UBER/GRAB, bakit ako magpapakapagod pumara sa labas, kung merong app for uber/grab?”
“nako taxi?! pano qng merong batingting yan? pano kung mangontrata ang mga taxi? dun nalang ako sa grab/uber”

mas ok sana kung naging mas MURA nalang ang taxi fare, para atleast ang comparison nalang ay “sa mura or sa mahal”

kesa nmn “sa mas convenient or hassle?”

  2. Looks like it will be a very merry christmas for Uber and Grab car.

  6. Oh look, marvin jude’s credentials got saved into my browser. Why?

  7. This does not guarantee taxis rejecting trips.

  8. Goody. before, taxis are the last choice. With fare increase, they are now excluded from the list. Well done, Mr Delgra. you just killed the taxi business. blunder move…

    • Couldn’t agree more. Who will be stupid enough to pay for a taxi ride at the same price as Uber / Grab but with broken down and dirty vehicles and rude drivers.
