With all the news about the Grand Vitara and the Ertiga Hybrid, let’s not forget about Suzuki’s pint-sized fighter the S-Presso. The brand is not done with the model, not by a long shot. In fact, they’ve just slapped in a couple more upgrades into the urban mobile, which they showed off at the Indonesia International Motor Show.
S-Presso gets added safety, entertainment, and engine features

Just in July of last year, the S-Presso got some major upgrades, which you’ll find here. You’d think that with a rather extensive list, Suzuki’s going to call it a day, but no. At this year’s IIMS, yet another market gets the upgraded units, and that’s something we’re very keen on our local distributor to pick up.
In the safety department, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) now comes standard, along with Hill Hold Control (HHC) for the AGS model. ISOFIX child seat anchors have likewise been added to the model. The side mirrors are now powered as well, with drivers and passengers no longer needing to reach out to a stalk to adjust its angles.

The new S-Presso models will also come with a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Audio toggles and controls have been neatly added to the steering wheel to provide ease and comfort when you need to adjust the volume or cycle through its functions and menus. The new head unit now comes with smartphone connectivity, too. A must-have for many in this technologically-driven age.
As for the engine, that’s been changed as well. The updated S-Presso will now use the K10C motor that puts out about 66 HP and 89 Nm of torque. There will be two transmission options, which are either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS). What’s more, an engine auto start-stop function has been added which Suzuki claims will improve fuel consumption, especially when caught in traffic jams.

Here’s the rub. The article that we’ve linked to shows almost if not all the same upgrades that Suzuki slapped onto the S-Presso in India. This time, the upgrades and updates have made their way to Indonesia. We source our units from India, and Indonesia’s offerings are pretty strong indicators of what we get in the Philippines. So, this news brings a pretty good possibility that our local units will get upgraded, too!
Yes, Suzuki PH has been pretty quiet about some of their models, but we’re pretty sure they’re not just sitting pretty. They’re probably just biding their time and waiting for when they can best introduce their improved models into the local market.
Make no mistake that the S-Presso does have a following here, and with these updates, they’ll be a pretty easy pick-up for those looking for an economical car to use.
