In the upcoming year, Hyundai Motor Philippines is set to introduce exciting additions to its lineup, promising enthusiasts and potential buyers a host of compelling options to look forward to, including the highly-awaited N performance models, or at least hinted by a statement, “something everybody can N-joy.”
Let’s focus on what we are sure of first, and among the much-anticipated releases is the debut of the fifth-generation Santa Fe, slated to hit the Philippine market in the first quarter of 2024, a revelation substantiated through an official media preview.
While intricate details, including pricing and specific variants, remain undisclosed, the preview showcased two striking colors, Ocado Green and Terracotta Orange. Both hues, adorned with high-gloss exterior trims and complemented by elaborate 21-inch high-gloss black alloy wheels, suggest a positioning within the higher echelons of trim levels.
Under the hood, the Philippine-bound Santa Fe will boast two engine options. The first is a potent 2.5-liter turbocharged engine (Theta III) coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission, delivering an impressive 277 hp and 422 Nm of torque. Equipped with the HTRAC all-wheel-drive system, this variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just eight seconds, reaching a top speed of 210 km/h.
While nothing is set in stone yet, we can expect Hyundai Motor Philippines to introduce an electrified version featuring a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine (Gamma III 1.6T GDI HEV) mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This hybrid model, set to debut post-official launch, generates a combined 232 hp and 367 Nm of torque, propelling the SUV from zero to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds with a top speed of 190 km/h.
The exterior design of the all-new Santa Fe is characterized by its boxy silhouette, derived from a lengthy wheelbase and expansive tailgate area. The front fascia boasts a high hood, H-shaped headlights, and sharp fenders, seamlessly integrating with the H-motif lower front design.
Inside, the cabin presents a choice between Obsidian Black or Supersonic Gray, configured as a seven-seater layout. Irrespective of the chosen interior color, occupants are treated to a Panoramic Curved Display featuring dual 12.3-inch screens, customizable interior lighting, and luxurious soft leather seats. Standard features include dual wireless charging, multi-zone climate control with ceiling-mounted vents for the second and third-row seats, a dual-pane sunroof, and power-adjustable front seats, complete with a Relaxation Seat for the driver. Additional conveniences towards the rear include rear side sun blinds and a one-touch sliding mechanism for seamless access to the third row.
While official reservations are not yet being accepted by Hyundai dealerships nationwide, a list of interested parties is being compiled, ensuring that those eager to be among the first to experience the allure of the mid-sized SUV can stay informed. As the launch date is anticipated between January and April, the possibility of the 2024 Santa Fe making its official debut at the Manila International Auto Show adds an extra layer of anticipation. Enthusiasts are advised to stay tuned for further updates as the unveiling of Hyundai’s latest offerings draws nearer.
