The Audi R8 Japan Final Edition marks its global farewell journey
The R8 GT RWD initially thought to be Audi’s supercar swan song, is not the final act after all. Japan is set to witness the encore with the introduction of the R8 Japan Final Edition, a limited production run consisting of a mere eight coupes. Dressed in a striking matte Ibis White finish, this mid-engine marvel not only marks a finale but also elevates the performance and aesthetics of the R8 to new heights.

The exterior of the R8 Japan Final Edition boasts 20-inch wheels adorned with matte bronze spokes that gleam with a gold-like polish, accentuated by red calipers complementing the ceramic brakes. Carbon fiber takes center stage with mirror caps, front spoiler lip, and side blades, while the rear wing, diffuser, and side skirts undergo the same lightweight treatment, enhancing both form and function.

Audi Japan has orchestrated a symphony of luxury and exclusivity inside the cockpit. The driver-centric cabin adopts a sophisticated two-tone theme in Black and Alabaster White. Nappa leather wraps the seats while Alcantara graces the headliner and the area behind the seats. The door sill trim, a subtle yet defining touch, proudly displays the model’s exclusivity. To commemorate the ownership experience, each buyer is given a special plate bearing the vehicle identification number (VIN).

Dubbed the Audi R8 Coupe Japan Final Edition, this epilogue to the R8 saga commands a price of 35,080,000 yen, reflecting its rare and distinguished status. As the curtains draw on the R8’s illustrious career, it follows the path of its sports car sibling, the TT, which saw its final assembly in November. While Audi tantalizingly hints at the potential return of these iconic nameplates in an all-electric avatar, the timing of such a resurrection remains uncertain. The R8 and TT, though bidding farewell for now, leave a lingering promise of a possible electric future on the horizon.
