It’s been announced and heavily publicized that due to the completion of the MRT-3’s rehabilitation project, the Department of Transportation along with President Rodrigo Duterte himself announced that the MRT-3 will be offering free rides for a month; starting March 28-April 30, 2022.
In line with that, many are probably wondering how to avail of the free rides? well, it’s not as simple as turning up at the train station and walking onto the train, there actually is a process.
The MRT-3 official Facebook page did post a video about the whole process:
For starters, If you have a Beep card you still need to tap your card on the ticket gates upon entry or exit doing so will not affect your card’s balance. If you have no card, you can queue up for a single journey ticket at the booth and use these to enter the ticket gates. Take note though, that even if the MRT-3 rides are free, you’ll still be charged P50 for lost or damaged tickets.
Free rides will start at 4:40 am until 10:10 pm, the free rides will also be available regardless of the station or starting point.
