2024 Honda CR-V officially launched in PH, starting price now at PHP 2.1M

The covers are off, and after it was announced last month, the 2024 Honda CR-V has finally been launched. Honda Cars Philippines has unveiled the newest generation of its popular crossover and it looks absolutely killer. As with our previous article, we are guaranteed to get three variants to choose from and as expected, it will also have a hybrid option, a first for the popular badge.

Three CR-V variants are available, priced between PHP 2.1M and PHP 2.59M

The new release is the 6th generation of the Honda CR-V. 6 generations hence, and this new model is being touted as a “significant step forward in Honda’s global thrust on electrification”, and rightfully so. That’s because of the three available variants, the top-of-the-line RS is also an e:HEV, a hybrid electric vehicle. That means that the top-spec is confirmed to be exempted from the Coding Scheme.

But of course that’s not the only draw of Honda’s newest addition to the local lineup.

The exterior still shares a few similar design cues from the outgoing model. The general shape of the headlight units, the gaping front grill, the greenhouse, and even the tailgate and taillight assemblies closely resemble the old looks. Quite surprising, though, as this is supposed to be an “all-new” model. But really, we’re not complaining.

The inside is where most of the changes can be found in the 2024 CR-V. As expected, it now shares the same design elements as the rest of Honda’s current vehicle lineup. It’s also much larger and more spacious than the previous generation, so that will translate to better comfort for everyone riding this new crossover. We’d describe this overall look as classy, but it also has a good mix of sporty, modern, and spacious added in and that makes for a very pretty interior.

But perhaps the biggest addition to the 2024 CR-V is the inclusion of two of the brand’s proprietary “systems” which are Honda SENSING and Honda CONNECT. The former is Honda’s safety suite that offers driver-assist technologies, making use of a front camera and radar to help detect cars, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, and other road users effectively.

The latter, on the other hand, provides a seamless connection between owners and their CR-V via an app installed on their smartphone, and by way of smart “telematics” technology, helps enhance safety, security, and convenience.

Of the two lower variants, the V and VX AWD, a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine sits under its hood. As for the top-spec RS e:HEV, we’ll now find a 2.0-liter engine that is paired with dual electric motors. This new engine promises fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, but at the same time does not diminish any of the exhilarating driving experience that the CR-V has been known for. All three variants will come with a continuously variable transmission.

Here are the three variants and the prices of the 2024 Honda CR-V:

  • 1.5 V Turbo CVT = PHP 2,100,000
  • 1.5 VX Turbo CVT AWD = PHP 2,280,000
  • 2.0 RS e:HEV E-CVT = PHP 2,590,000

Considering that we’re now in its 6th generation, this is also the most expensive that the CR-V has ever been. Yes, inflation, the pandemic, and the global economy all have a part in this pricing, but for its looks and what it offers, it may actually be justified. But before we say that with certainty, we’ll have to get our hands on it for a full review first.

Oh, hi there, Honda Cars Philippines!
