As confirmed, the 2023 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross has indeed been revealed, and starting today, is already available at the dealerships. A lot of buzz has surrounded the release of the sportier, rugged, higher-off-the-ground Cross variant, and today, months after its debut in Indonesia, we finally get to see it in the metal.

Let’s start by looking at its exterior design. The 2023 Xpander Cross maintains the T-shaped LED headlight units as the non-Cross variant. The grill, however, has been changed for everyone to know that this is Cross. If anything, it reminds us a lot of the Montero Sport, but we’ll get to more of that later. Also noticeable are the rectangular LED foglights which replaced the round halogen units found in the regular Xpander.

On the side, you’ll see both black and silver cladding; the former on the fender arches, side skirts, and doors, and the latter on the doors as well. New-design 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels also highlight the fact that what you’re looking at is the Xpander Cross. As you move to the rear, you’ll notice a slight redesign to the bumper, more angles, blacked-out bumper sides, the addition of a silver-colored diffuser, as well as a few additions in the T-shaped taillight reflector pieces.

As for the inside, you’ll see a bit more Montero Sport inspiration. Starting up front, you’ll see an 8-inch digital gauge cluster and a new 4-spoke steering wheel that will remind you of the Xpander Cross’ SUV brethren. The wheel is tilt and telescopic adjustable, by the way. Moving towards the center stack, you’ll find a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with the usual radio and connectivity functions including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The digital climate controls have likewise been retained from the regular Xpander, as well as what you see on the center and shifter console.

Being a 7-seater, space comes aplenty in the Xpander Cross for both passengers and cargo. The 3rd-row seats still fold forward, making for an almost flat trunk floor, and should you need more space, the 2nd-row seatback can fold and the seats tumble forward to make way for bigger cargo. The familiar under-floor trunk organizer has again made its way into this version of the Xpander Cross, and as we say, the more space for your wares, the better, especially since this is covered and kept away from prying eyes.
Power is provided by the same 1.5-liter 4-cylinder MIVEC engine. It’s good for 104 HP and 141 Nm of torque and is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Now, on to the most important question: how much does it cost? Pricing is as follows:
Blade Silver Metallic & Graphite Gray Metallic (Monotone) = PHP 1,328,000
Sunrise Orange Metallic (2-Tone) = PHP 1,338,000
Quartz White Pearl (2-Tone) = PHP 1,353,000
Yes, and again, the Xpander Cross is a solo variant, and its pricing is determined by the color that you would choose upon purchase.
Here’s an added bit that we’d like to add before you finish reading this article, and we find this a little odd. Previously marketed as the “lifted”, AKA has more ground clearance variant, and the 2023 Xpander Cross has a ground clearance of 225mm. That’s exactly the same as the non-Cross variant. Again, odd. But we’ll get to that when we get our hands on a proper review unit.
