Yes, the all-new 2024 Honda CR-V is coming, and it’s scheduled to officially be launched in the PH in about a month’s time. As we speak, a lot of photos have already made the rounds 25, but the good news is that Honda Cars Philippines has confirmed that we’re getting it very soon, and on top of that, the long-awaited hybrid variant will be part of the local lineup.
2024 Honda CR-V will get not one, not two, but three variants, including the e:HEV
The 6th generation CR-V is being billed by Honda as “a significant step forward in Honda’s global thrust on electrification”. There will be three variants in the lineup, and while the V and VX will both be powered by a turbo gasoline engine – for the first time ever since the badge was released – the top-of-the-line RS e:HEV will be equipped with a full hybrid system.
As far as the interior goes, Honda shares that this new model’s cabin is larger than the outgoing model, which makes for better comfort for everyone who rides the CR-V. We can expect a whole lot of refinement and a carrying-over of Honda’s overall design language for the interior, and as they describe it, will be “sporty, modern, and spacious” all rolled into one.
This generation will also be the first to come with both Honda CONNECT and Honda SENSING and will be available in all three variants.
Honda CONNECT gives users a seamless connection with their cars via an app installed on their smartphone, and by using smart “telematics” technology, enhances safety, security, and convenience.
Honda SENSING, the brand’s proprietary safety suite, features a slew of driver-assist technologies that make use of a front camera and radar to help detect cars, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, and other road users effectively.
Going back to the powertrains, the V and VX AWD will have a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, which Honda promises will give the CR-V powerful performance and optimized fuel efficiency.
As for the high-end variant, the RS e:HEV, it will make use of a 2.0-liter engine that will be paired with dual electric motors. With Honda’s latest hybrid system at its core, this variant of the CR-V can boast of outstanding fuel efficiency, substantially reduced emissions, all while giving an exhilarating and dynamic driving experience.
All three variants of the CR-V will have a CVT.
“We are eager to launch the All-new Honda CR-V in the Philippines because this is a major step towards a carbon-neutral future for the next generation. With cumulative sales of over 70,000 units since it came to the Philippines in 1997, I know the Honda CR-V has a special place in the heart of Filipino customers. The all-new model, with the new e:HEV, Honda CONNECT, and Honda SENSING, is yet again how Honda demonstrates our commitment to a cleaner, healthier environment, and to safety for everyone” said Ms. Rie Miyake, HCPI President.
The variants and their prices are as follows:
- 1.5 V Turbo CVT = PHP 2,150,000
- 1.5 VX Turbo CVT AWD = PHP 2,300,000
- 2.0 RS e:HEV E-CVT = PHP 2,600,000
We must admit that this new generation Honda CR-V will also be the most expensive that the model has ever been. With its prices already hovering within the same range as that of SUVs, do its features and promises make it all worthwhile enough to justify the cost? We’ll just have to wait and see. Regardless, we confess ourselves quite excited to see what it brings to the table. And the roads.
Will there be a Hybrid AWD version in the Philippines? Or is the RS an AWD by default (as it is in some SEA countries)?
