If there’s one thing EV brands, including MG, struggle with, is how to assure the public about EV battery capacities and durabilities. The latter is a bit of a bigger concern for most, if not all consumers. In a pretty bold move, the manufacturer has announced that it will offer an unprecedented lifetime warranty on all its electric vehicle batteries. The catch (for now), though, is that it begins in Thailand.

So we were able to catch your attention just with the battery part, right? Here’s the bigger picture: they are stretching this lifetime warranty not just for the battery, and they’re including the drive motor and the electronic control system as well. Specifically, this move is “a major turning point for the Thai EV market, leading to a new standard so that all customers can be worry-free about using electric vehicles”, according to the brand.

As for the models that are covered with this ridiculously (in a good way) brave coverage, they are the MG4 Electric, the Maxus 7, Maxus 9, and their flagship EV the Cyberster, a photo of which you see at the top of the screen. At this point, the brand is all about its “commitment and determination to take care of customers in the long term. Taking into account customer satisfaction and maximum benefit, this warranty covers private vehicles, is not limited to the first owner, does not limit the driving distance, and also supports future changes of ownership.
All bases are covered, it seems.

The brand continues its push towards EV sales in the country, and while this warranty scheme has not yet been made official in the Philippines, MG’s aggressive stance and foothold in the market will likely bring this policy over. Yes, that all still depends on China and other powers that be, but just imagine this for one quick minute.
If they are able to address range anxiety, battery life, and battery replacement in one fell swoop, what’s going to stop them from selling more vehicles, and what’s going to stop the apprehensive public from jumping into the electrified revolution?
